5/9/2022: Kentucky Derby Upset
PLUS: Formula Shortage, “Amber Turd”, and Sussexes to Attend Jubilee
Today is Monday, May 9, 2022.
It is the 129th day of the year.
236 days remain.
Saturday was National Play Outside Day.
The Kentucky Derby took place on Saturday. Head to Hit List to find out the winner!
Sunday was National Have a Coke Day.
Mother’s Day was Sunday. Twitter was full of tweets sending out love to all of the moms.
The Daily Mail got its hands on the investment pitch deck Elon Musk has been using to woo investors, and the billionaire has big plans for the social media platform.
The deck suggests Musk has plans to ax a thousand staffers once he takes over and retool the business model to get users to pay a modest monthly fee, rather than rely on advertising revenue.
Twitter already has a service called Twitter Blue with some premium features, that costs only a few dollars a month.
Musk believes these changes, and focusing on hiring quality engineers instead of activist content moderators, can grow revenue to more than $25 billion a year in 2028. By contrast, Twitter pulled in $5 billion in 2021.
Marine life researchers studying a 40-mile strip of coast in Texas have made some disturbing discoveries in the sand lately: Washed up dolls.
The researchers say the dolls wash up about twice a month, and no one has any idea where they’re coming from.
Check out this mortifying gallery: https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/texas-news/photos-creepy-dolls-wash-ashore-on-padre-island/2958870/
FOR THE PERVERTS: Yes, one of the dolls was a sex doll. Yes, some internet weirdo offered to pay the researchers $35 for it – but only wanted the head.
Rich Strike took home the win at the 2022 Kentucky Derby in one of the biggest upsets in the race’s history.
The colt wasn’t even supposed to be in the race until Ethereal Road was scratched on Friday morning — only one day before the 148th running of the Run for the Roses.
Epicenter was the betting favorite with 4-1 odds, while Rich was at the bottom with 80-1 odds. That means a $2 win bet paid out $163.60.
Rich Strike crossed the finish line with a winning time of 2 minutes and 2.61 seconds.
WORTH NOTING: It was the biggest derby upset since Donerail (91-1) won in 1913.
Baby formula is increasingly hard to come by.
CNN reports that at least 26 states are struggling to keep the product stocked at even half-capacity.
While ongoing supply chain issues might be part of the problem, it has a lot more to do with a major manufacturer getting slapped with a shutdown order earlier this year.
The FDA recalled three brands of powdered formula in February, citing possible bacterial infections. All of those brands are manufactured by Michigan’s Abbott Nutrition.
An Iowa maternity ward had its hands literally full last week, when it welcomed three sets of twins in the span of about twelve hours.
In a nice feat of symmetry, the first set was two girls, the second was a girl and a boy, and the third was two boys.

One employee met with administration officials, including President JOE BIDEN, last week. Now in a public letter, Starbucks says they would like similar access, and argue that the demand for unionization across most of their company is small. “We have a drastically more positive vision for our partners and our company than Workers United,” they say.

JAMES EARL JONES only made $7,000 to voice Darth Vader in the first “Star Wars” film.
The revelation came from a resurfaced clip from the American Film Institute, in which Jones says “George [Lucas] wanted, pardon the expression, a dark voice. So he hired a guy born in Mississippi, raised in Michigan, who stutters. And that’s the voice. That’s me.”
Jones continued on explaining how excited he was about the four-figure paycheck, saying “I thought it was good money. And I got to be a voice in a movie!”
Jones would return to the franchise decades later to voice Lord Vader once again in “Star Wars: Rogue One.”
MALCOLM MACDONALD, the man who had an artificial penis crafted on his forearm, wants to date KATE BECKINSALE.
The 48-year-old actress shared a story about MacDonald that was published by The Post on Instagram. She captioned the post, “Of course he is from the UK. Of course he has done a photo shoot down in the [park] with a willy hanging out of his sleeve. Feel momentarily better. God bless you, Malcolm xxx.”
She did not reveal whether she would take him up on his offer to go on a date.
HERE’S THE STORY: In 2010, MacDonald’s penis “just dropped off onto the floor” after he suffered an infection. Surgeons manufactured a new appendage using a skin flap on his left arm. They then attempted to move the member down to his pubic area but had to stop the operation due to a lack of oxygen to his blood. Six years later — after scheduling mixups, staff shortages and the pandemic — his manhood was restored. According to MacDonald, everything works just fine.
MADONNA reached out to POPE FRANCIS on Twitter to “discuss some important matters.”
“I’m a good Catholic. I Swear! I mean I don’t Swear,” the singer wrote. “Would it be possible to meet up one day to discuss some important matters?”

Amber blamed it on their dogs, but Johnny says there is no way it came from them.
As the defamation trial between the exes continues, the poop story has been a constant joke on social media.

He has been accused of similar behaviors in the past.
ABC has canceled “Queens” after only one season.
The series, starring EVE, BRANDY, NATURI NAUGHTON and NADINE VELAZQUEZ, followed four estranged women in their 40s who reunite for a chance to recapture the fame they had as a hip-hop ‘90s group.
Viewership started out strong, but dwindled throughout the first season.
ANDREA SAVAGE will star opposite SYLVESTER STALLONE in “Tulsa King,” a new mob series for Paramount+.
She will play ATF agent Stacy Beale, who left the Anti-Terror squad in New York to join an Oklahoma outpost dealing with local militia groups.

THE DAILY KARDASHOPUS
KIM KARDASHIAN revealed on Friday that she wore not one but TWO of MARILYN MONROE’s dresses to the 2022 Met Gala.
While everyone is aware of the beaded number she wore on the red carpet, Kim shared photos on Instagram of her wearing the Norman Norwell dress that the late actress wore to the Golden Globes in 1962.
Kim put on the green gown for a Met Gala after-party, where she was also in possession of the Golden Globe that Monroe received that evening, which is owned by her friend JEFF LEATHAM.
WORTH NOTING: People have been split on how they feel about Kim wearing Monroe’s dresses.

PRINCE HARRY and MEGHAN MARKLE will reportedly attend QUEEN ELIZABETH’s Platinum Jubilee, along with their two children.

The foursome will not appear with Her Majesty, PRINCE CHARLES, PRINCE WILLIAM, KATE MIDDLETON and the rest of the royals for the official public appearance and photo op on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
A palace insider told the outlet that Elizabeth has decided only those members of the Royal Family who are currently undertaking official public duties will stand on the balcony — this means no PRINCE ANDREW.
The trip means Harry’s family will get to meet Lili for the first time.
JOHN SCHNATTER, the former CEO of Papa John’s, recently revealed that two NFL owners wanted him to get NFL Commissioner ROGER GOODELL fired during the national anthem controversy.
Schnatter opened up about the incident on “Fearless with Jason Whitlock” last month, claiming that in 2017 Washington Commanders team owner DANIEL SNYDER and Dallas Cowboys team owner JERRY JONES urged him to “take [Goodell] out.”
At the time, the pizza company was the league's number one sponsor. Schnatter blamed Goodell for Papa John’s falling stock and was very outspoken against players kneeling during the national anthem.
“This is not my job to fire your commissioner. He works for you. I just sell pizzas,” Schnatter told the men.
AS MANY MAY REMEMBER: Schnatter ultimately resigned from the company after he was heard using the N-word on a conference call.
