POPEWATCH: POPE FRANCIS left the hospital on Sunday to resume recovery from a weeks-long respiratory infection at home in the Vatican.

The Pontiff appeared to supporters from a balcony at the hospital in Rome before departing, marking his first public appearance in weeks. While he appeared alert, the 88-year-old did speak softly and struggled to raise his arms when he gave a blessing.

Doctors say Francis should not be expected to hold many public appearances for at least the next two months. [via CNN]

Heathrow Airport in London resumed service on Saturday after grounding all flights on Friday following a power outage caused by a fire at a nearby power facility. An estimated 200,000 passengers were affected by the shutdown at one of the world’s busiest airports.

Thomas Woldbye, the airport’s chief executive, said Heathrow has backup systems, but not enough capacity to power the entire facility.

So far, investigators have not publicly said they suspect any foul play with the fire that caused the shutdown. [via BBC]

RYAN REYNOLDS and BLAKE LIVELY will not attend this year’s Met Gala, but probably not for the reason most think.

Insiders say the couple’s decision to skip the annual event was made prior to the ongoing “It Ends With Us” legal drama with JUSTIN BALDONI.

In fact, they didn’t go to last year’s event either.

The Met Gala is set to take place on May 5. [via TMZ]

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominee CYNDI LAUPER says she was “thrown out of a jazz school” after refusing to quit a rock band.

Needless to say, the boot didn’t hurt her career, which really took off with the release of her 1983 album “She’s So Unusual.”

This is Lauper’s second time being nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She was also on the ballot in 2023. [via People]

“The Bride,” an upcoming “Frankenstein” movie starring CHRISTIAN BALE, is leaving the 2025 movie rotation.

Set in 1930s Chicago, the movie follows Frankenstein as he seeks out Dr. Euphronius to make him a companion.

It is now set to come out in 2026, though an exact date is not yet known.

As for why the delay, ScreenRant reports that there were negative reactions to the film’s early test screenings. [via ScreenRant]

UP NEXT: JEFF BEZOS’s wedding plans, an iconic horror franchise hits the auction block, clarifying some lies in The Swamp, and Great Britain expands on this date in history.
