Researchers developing treatments for Alzheimer’s believe a common herb often used to treat hair loss shows promise for reversing memory loss and reducing brain inflammation.
So far, the application of carnosic acid – the hair-treatment herb, which also appears naturally in rosemary and sage – has been successful in treating lab mice. One researcher says, “It didn’t just slow down the decline, it improved virtually back to normal.”
Since carnosic acid occurs naturally and is not deeply scrutinized by the FDA, researchers hope human trials might proceed relatively soon. [via New York Post]
