The countdown is on to Election Day and early voting is already in full swing across most of the country. There’s a fire hose of data about voting habits and demographics already that will only intensify over the next week-and-a-half. This guide focuses on basic trends to look for early on. 

NEXT WEEK: With early voting mostly wrapped across the country, we’ll take a look at the State of the Race heading into Election Day, and what early voting data suggests about what’s to come.

ELECTION GUIDE 2024

On Election Day, there’s going to be a tidal wave of information dissected and parsed everywhere you look on TV and online. In reality, there are seven states to watch and within each just a handful of meaningful county results that will give early signs about the electorate’s mood at the ballot box. 

DID YOU KNOW: Three of these swing states – Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania – have voted as a bloc in every election since 1992. With the exception of 2016, they’ve gone to the Democrat candidate, when they voted together to elect Trump in the Electoral College, earning the three states the “Blue Wall” nickname. 

With that in mind, here’s a breakdown of the seven states to watch and what to look for in specific counties as Election Night unfolds.
